After graduating from Newcastle University in 1977 with a psychology degree, Deirdre was inspired to retrain as an osteopath at the British School of Osteopathy qualifying with honours in 1983. She spent the next 10 years working at private practices in London as well as gaining considerable experience in the treatment of children as a volunteer osteopath at the Osteopathic Centre for Children. In 1993 Deirdre moved to Chester to start her own practice and in 1996 established The Osteopathic Health Centre in partnership with Sally Devereux.Over the years Deirdre has developed her own blend of osteopathic treatment combining gentle structural approaches with cranial osteopathy. She aims to help patients understand how their conditions have come about, giving advice and exercises to support them in self management. Deirdre continues to be passionate about paediatric osteopathy and its role in enabling babies and children to reach their potential in growth and development. She upholds the motto of the Osteopathic Centre for Children, ‘Every Child has a Success Story to Live’.
