What our patients say...
Finlay didn’t sleep well from birth and would wake 6-7 times a night crying for long periods...
Continual Professional Development
The revalidation process is “a mechanism that allows health professionals to demonstrate that they remain up-to-date and continue to meet the requirements of their professional regulator” The necessity for the profession to revalidate has been imposed by government, part of testing the pilot scheme is to ensure that the scheme achieves its aims and is proportionate (i.e. fair and feasible)Deirdre, Sally and Claire will test the scheme over a year long period during which time they will individually complete a portfolio consisting of four pieces of work which are selected from a range of different studies such as audit, research, case studies etc. The portfolio has been designed to enable the osteopath to demonstrate competency in the four main themes of:
A) Communication and patient partnership
B) Knowledge, skills and performance.
C) Safety and quality in practice.
D) Professionalism
As each piece of work is completed, Deirdre, Sally and Claire will give feedback to enable the revalidation process to be tweaked and refined to ensure that the process when rolled out to the whole profession achieves its remit.
It’s going to be a busy year and patients may well be asked to help take part by filling in questionnaires or providing structured feedback.
