about-osteo2
Osteopaths strive to understand the sequence of events which have led patients to develop symptoms; as with peeling the layers off an onion we look at the stresses and strains which have taken our patient to this point and then (the clever bit!) use our hands to reassemble them.

  • The osteopathic approach is holistic with treatment tailored to the individual
  • Osteopathy is based on the principle that structure affects function
  • Taking care of the body framework is essential to good health

about-osteo1Osteopathy recognises the importance of keeping the structure of the body (ie skeleton, joints and muscles) working properly to maintain good health. Problems with the framework of our bodies can lead to aches, pains and stiffness and, in turn, can alter the blood supply, lymph drainage or nerve supply to other parts of the body such as our internal organs.

Osteopaths work to restore normal function to the musculoskeletal system and return the body to a state of balance and harmony. By considering each person as an individual and using a highly developed sense of touch, an osteopath can indentify problem areas of the body. Gentle stretching techniques, massage, joint manipulation and rebalancing techniques are used to create the right conditions for the body to heal and restore itself to normal.

Patients may seek advice for one specific problem only to find that other problems resolve too and they feel better in themselves
