The Osteopaths Act

In 1993, under the Osteopaths Act, Osteopathy became the first complementary health care profession to be given statutory recognition. The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) is the regulatory body for the osteopathic profession and holds the statutory register of osteopaths. It is now an offence for anyone to describe themselves as an osteopath unless registered with the GOsC.
